For children 3-5, we offer a fun introductory class called Kinderdance. Our teachers incorporate jazz, ballet, and acrobatics into a fun dance class. Our kinderdancer’s begin to learn musicality, pointing their toes, and memorization. After they learn these fundamental skills, they will incorporate them into a fun dance recital piece to be displayed for parents at our year-end recital.
Our acro classes help dancers improve flexibility and strength while learning this combination of dance and gymnastic-style movements. These classes will help your dancer learn cartwheels, handstands, elbow stands, double tricks, and more. These skills will all be incorporated into a fun choreographed dance to showcase what the dancers have learned throughout the year.
Our jazz classes will teach our dancers fundamental jazz steps. Our teachers work with the dancers on jumps and turns, and musicality. In our jazz classes, you will get the chance to develop your skills and movement through across the floor work, centre, and learn the fundamentals that can be used in other dance forms.
Our lyrical and contemporary classes offer dancers an opportunity to experience lyrical dance, which combines techniques and skills from ballet, jazz and modern dance.Students will also explore how lyrical dance emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics totell a story with movement that can be fluid, graceful or abstract.
Dancers are taught the basics and fundamentals of dance through ballet. The dancer will develop poise and self-confidence through this graceful art form. Dancers are trained according to the Cecchetti methods. Cecchetti graded classes as well as examinations are available.
Break dancing originated in the Bronx, NYC in the 70s, with innovations from present funk and party dance expressed in the cypher (dance circle). We teach students to engage both legs and arms to create lower-level, dynamic movements and patterns.
This class offers a combination of jazz dance and acrobatics. A fun way to show off dance moves and body tricks.
In this program, students will learn flips, somersaults, tucks, handstands, handsprings and much more! We put our focus on flexibility and body control.
Hip Hop consists of a combination of different techniques such as: popping, locking, housing, funk, freestyle, breaking, boogaloo and learning the latest moves seen on all the hottest new music videos. It is an entertaining form of dance, incorporating challenging routines and beats. This program is a high-energy dance experience that is fun for dancers of all ages. No previous dance experience is necessary for the course but you have to be prepared to challenge yourself. Each class begins with warm up exercises. A distinct set of choreographed movements that will be taught step by step with audio.
This program incorporates rhythm, timing, and coordination. Dancers will learn and acquire basic, progressive, and intricate tap skills. Tap dancing allows dancers to make music with their feet by performing rhythm-based tap choreography. Our tap classes will help develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn to build flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun.
Musical Theatre: (6:15-7:15) Ages 8-14 years
This class will combine singing, dialogue, dance and acting to explore storytelling with students. Using familiar scripts and music, students will develop their voice and ability to move through this musical form of theatre. Throughout the 8 weeks, students will work towards a final short performance created from their own ideas and learned techniques within the class. There will be a small final performance presentation at the end of the session.
Drama: (5:15-6:15) Ages 8-14 years
This class will allow students to explore the art of dramatic storytelling using voice, improvisation and movement in an open and fun environment. Through different activities and games, students will explore finding their voice through acting and playing different characters. Throughout the 8 weeks, students will work towards a final short performance created from their own ideas and learned techniques within the class. There will be a small final performance presentation at the end of the session.
